Alexander's Conquests

Historical background

After the Battle of Issus, Alexander conquered the Near East, including Palestine. Greek language and culture became common across the Mediterranean. The later Greek translation of the Old Testament, the Septuagint, helped prepare the setting for the spread of the gospel.
