Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These Terms set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the service provider and users in connection with the use of the internet-related services provided by ElSeeker (the "Service").

2. Effect and amendment of the Terms

These Terms take effect when they are posted on the Service.

• The Service may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable laws.
• When these Terms are amended, a notice is posted on the Service from 7 days before the effective date (or from 30 days before, for changes that are unfavorable to users or otherwise material).
• If a user continues to use the Service after the effective date, the user is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.

3. Accounts and login

The Service can be used by linking an external social account (OAuth) such as Google, Naver, or Kakao.

• ① Users must create an account using their own genuine information.
• ② Users are responsible for managing their account information and may not transfer or lend it to anyone else.
• ③ Only users aged 14 or older may sign up for and use the Service.

4. User obligations

Users must not engage in any of the following acts.

• Registering false information when signing up or making changes
• Stealing another person's information or using an account without authorization
• Reverse engineering the Service's client/server APIs or extracting its source code
• Using automated means (macros, bots, etc.) to place an excessive load on the Service
• Any other act that violates applicable laws or intentionally interferes with the operation of the Service

5. User posts (Community)

The responsibilities and rights regarding posts, comments, and other content that users publish in the Service's community ("Posts") are as follows.

• Copyright in a Post belongs to the user who wrote it.
• Users grant the Service a non-exclusive license to use their Posts to the extent necessary to operate, display, store, and back up the Service.
• The following Posts are prohibited, and the user who wrote them is responsible for any consequences.
  • Content that infringes the rights of others, such as copyright or portrait rights
  • Obscene or violent content, or content that promotes hatred or discrimination
  • Advertising, spam, or content contrary to the purpose of the Service

※ Posts that accumulate reports above a certain threshold may be automatically hidden or deleted, and the Service may take action against Posts that violate applicable laws or its operating policies without prior notice.

6. Provision and changes of the Service

In principle, the Service is provided year-round without interruption, but it may be temporarily suspended for system maintenance or operational needs.

※ Some or all features of the Service may be modified or discontinued at the developer's discretion or according to operating policies, and unless applicable laws specifically provide otherwise, users will not receive separate compensation for this.

7. Copyright and data storage

Copyright in works created by the Service belongs to the service provider.

For the stable operation of the Service, all data is securely managed through Google Cloud Platform (Seoul region).

8. Account deletion

Users may request to delete their account at any time through My page.

※ When an account is deleted, the user's data, including study records, notes, highlights, reading progress, and social connection information, is deleted without delay and cannot be recovered. However, information that must be retained under applicable laws is kept for the required period and then destroyed.

9. Protection of personal information

The Service values users' personal information. Matters concerning the collection, use, storage, and destruction of personal information are governed by the separate Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms is governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the court with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act is the court of first instance.
